Baptism

From death to life

What is Baptism?

Baptism is all about going public with your faith in Jesus and communicating your commitment to follow Him the rest of your life. It’s your next step after salvation.

Who can be baptized?
Baptism happens after salvation. So even if you were baptized before salvation, you are called to be baptized again after salvation
Do I need to be baptized to be saved?
No. Baptism does not save you, it is simply your first step after salvation.
How do you do baptism?
We do baptism by immersion (dunking). That is the way we see it done in Scripture, and the Greek word for baptism, baptitzo, means “to immerse.”
Do you baptize children?
We do all of our baptisms on a case-by-case basis, regardless of age. We want to be sure we are baptizing people who have come to know Jesus as their Savior so that we don’t accidentally give them false hope. Each baptism candidate is given a series of questions to answer online and is spoken to in person so we can be sure they have an accurate understanding of what it means to be saved. In short, a person must believe that Jesus did everything necessary to save them through His death and resurrection, and that person commits to do whatever Jesus tells them to do and go wherever Jesus tells them to go, regardless of the cost.
What if I was baptized as a baby or baptized by sprinkling?
Since baptism happens after salvation, that means it must be a choice made by the individual. A baby cannot make that choice. If you have come to know Christ as Savior but were baptized as a baby, you will need to be baptized again.

If you were sprinkled, we believe you should be baptized by immersion. The reason for this is that this is the pattern we see in Scripture, and we want to be as close to that as possible.
