Worship and Student Director, Nathan Churchill talks on the importance of patience in our everyday lives.

Live Like Jesus – A Little Patience Please

Living a life of impatience is just Human Nature; BUT we are called to live out of God’s Nature!

Galatians 5:22-24 (NIV): But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Patience is Found Out of the Sacrifice and Suffering of Jesus

Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV): Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

To Have Patience Like Jesus… Put the work in…

How do we put the work in?

1. Developing Patience in our Relationships

Ephesians 4:2 (NIV): Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

2. Developing Patience Through Trials

James 1:2-4 (NIV): Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

3. Developing Patience by Abiding in Jesus

John 15:5 (NIV): “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
