Pastor Dillon continues his series ‘Unburdened’ talking about what happens when we find ourselves in the dark.

The Strain of Suffering

Three Truths to Realize in the Dark

Truth #1- God is with me in the dark.

Psalm 23:4 (NIV): Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me…

Truth #2- God is leading me through the dark.

Psalm 23:4 (NIV): Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 23:3-4 (NIV): He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley…

Truth #3- God still loves me in and through the dark.

Psalm 23:4 (NIV): …your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Matthew 11:29 (NIV): …for I am gentle and humble in heart…

Romans 8:28-29 (NIV): And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son…

Suffering will strain us, but God will redeem our suffering by using it to shape us.

Instead of praying “God, get me out of this”, pray ” God, shape me through this.”
